Insightful boredom

Waiting can be difficult, whether for a doctor’s appointment, a flight or a lover. While I was in one such situation, that I shall leave the reader to guess, I asked a few very dear friends a question that has been asked many a time before – What is the nicest thing about life?
My phone soon began alerting me of responses:

A film-maker friend: Life itself!
I: C’mon, be specific, not 'filmy'.
He: the ability to be conscious of it.
I shall wait for him to make a movie on that to be able to comprehend it!

A Musician: Music!
I: Seems obvious, no?
He: it’s the nicest part of my life

The heavyweight: food
I: ofcourse!
Though I would tell her, the gym isn’t too bad, either.

The student: holidays
I: I can imagine!
The great escape from teachers, assignments and tests.

By now, I was finding it quite entertaining!

And then a friend, who I cannot put in a category due to his multifaceted interests that include comic books, messaged that he felt it was childhood, until he read of the bombing of a school by Israel.
It made me wonder why life makes us sad, too…

The homemaker: family
I: God bless

The doctor: disease and illness - it helps me earn my living!
I: Smart
Ah, the hidden conspiracy between the doctors and the bugs.

And then my film-maker friend turned the question on me.
I: the chance to spread happiness, unconditionally!
He: change your profile picture!
I: really? That bad, eh?
He: Put Mother Teresa’s instead!

the riddle of life: zindagi kaisi hai paheli
