Times have changed and so have the tastes of the
audience. But old music proves its timelessness as it is subject to new-age
music technology and re-packaged with a new zing!
As I was driving yesterday, I heard this song on the
radio and for some reason it lingered in my mind for a while thereafter. Arijit
Singh’s voice oozes a wonderful sexuality and he added spice to a song originally
composed for the movie ‘Dayavan’ and sung by Pankaj Udhas and Anuradha Paudwal.
Aaj phir tumpe pyar
aaya hain, Arijit Singh and Samira Koppikar
Another recent movie which celebrated the free spirit of
womanhood, ‘Queen’, featured a song sung by Asha Bhonsle and composed by the
duo Laxmikant – Pyarelal for the movie ‘Anhonee’ of 1973. Again, the remix has
Arijit Singh’s voice adding that extra ‘something’.
Hothon se lagaya
to, Asha Bhonsle and Arijit Singh
Asha Bhonsle’s voice has a characteristic sensuality and
naughtiness to it; the original of this song was sung by her for the movie Don
(1978), the music, composed by Kalyanji Anandji. The remix features Sunnidhi
Chauhan.
Yeh mera dil,
Sunnidhi Chauhan
The very catchy ‘hawa hawa…’, by Hasan Jahangir from
Pakistan, found it’s way back in the movie ‘Chaalis Chaurasi’, 2012, rendered
by Neeraj Shridhar.
