Ishq Wala Love!

The day of love has finally dawned upon us! I haven’t been able to figure out, though, why Valentine’s Day is celebrated on this day, given that there were numerous saints by that name, and their feasts celebrated on different dates by the various sects of the Christian community. I had done a little bit of digging around, a few years back, and found that there many stories that justified the celebration of a day of and for love.
But isn’t everyday a day of love? To me, this whole charade seems no more than a marketing hogwash…Nonetheless, here’s a reason to celebrate some lovely music! ‘Come to my attic….all our differences shall melt away..’ I love the one rendered by Shobha Gurtu, and not because I am her namesake! Here, I share Ustad Shujaat Khan’s version of the dadra in Raga Bharavi.

Bollywood can’t be left behind when it comes to this celebration of love – from running around trees to wooing in style to winning over the ladylove’s tyrannous father to equilateral-scalene-isosceles triangular love stories, we have it all.

Love is just that – LOVE! Happy Valentine’s Day…
