The Effigy Within

A World torn by hate and strife
With little respect for another’s life;
The fight to establish a superiority
All effects of a misplaced priority!

The man who thinks he is strong
And shatters a woman by doing her wrong;
Plucking the flower when just a bud,
Dropping it to the floor with a thud!

Raging passions displace compassion
Judgement clouded by a misplaced mission;
As fires of hatred burn the grounds,
Bellowing smoke silence a bird’s sound.

The wind carries the cries of despair
A mother’s, a father’s and a child’s prayer!
A home that is hearth to a life full of dreams
Comes down crumbling with its beams.

Leaders voice their concern in a mike
And somewhere a missile does strike,
A beautiful world slowly destroyed in the din
What needs to be destroyed is the effigy within…
