She was one of those divas from South India who made her mark, not only in the Hindi Film industry, but also Tamizh, Malayalam and Telugu cinema. A consummate actress she had everything that Indian cinema loved - a trained dancer who improvised her steps beyond the script of choreography, the lovely, expressive eyes, an incomparable sensuality and a complete hold on timing, especially when it came to comic acts.
Who can forget that dialogue from her come-back film, English Vinglish - “Her eyes are like two drops of coffee in a cloud of milk..”
